I've made an English gloss spoken aloud for every word of the Qur'an.
Try it: https://dfordev1.github.io/qusx-audio/
Code: https://github.com/dfordev1/qusx-audio
Tap any word, hear its meaning.
What it is
20,498 clips, covering all 77,432 word positions
128 MB total, free, no key or account
Addressed by QUSX word id — works with any print layout
Gloss text included, brackets intact: In (the) name
What it is not
Synthesised speech. The voice is a professional clone, but no human read these words.
It speaks an English translation, not the Qur'an. Not recitation.
Where it's weak
About 1,400 clips were verified automatically. The other 19,000 were not.
Transliterated names — Lut, Yaqub, Zaqqum, Alif Laam Meem — can't be verified that way at all. 713 glosses, 4,362 positions.
If you hear a mistake, please open an issue.
Two questions
Who wrote this text? It's QUL's Colored English word-by-word (resource 92). No translator named, not marked copyrighted — but that's not permission. If anyone knows the provenance, I'd like to attribute it properly or withdraw it.
Is the format right? It's a sidecar — changes nothing in QUSX, adds nothing consumers must parse. Other languages can attach to the same word ids. Worth saying now if the shape is wrong, before anyone builds on it.
The pipeline is in the repo and works for any language. Happy to help with Urdu, Turkish, Indonesian, or anything else.
